Should have stayed home today

It started on my drive in to work. There was some snow in the air. An hour later, my car was covered. We have about 15cm (6") down since about 9am this morning. I am not looking forward to driving home tonight. The wind is supposed to pick up, and along the coast it may change to a mix of freezing rain and snow. I just want to get home safely and not venture out again until tomorrow.

Believe it or not, this is what it looks like from Morongo Valley through Yucca Valley again today. Big Bear, the ski mountains to the west of me, has had record amounts of snowfall since Monday. Our storms are moving your way, so be prepared to make cookies, drink hot chocolate, and watch lots of old movies!

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of saying it's too bad out to go to work. This is just another storm that we have to deal with on an average work day. I am fortunate in that I can choose to work from home in these cases, though I was caught off-guard on how bad it would get.

It takes a massive storm for a company to close their offices. I've only had that happen once in the last 11 years I've been working full time, and that was after a severe ice storm with widespread power failures for days.
