Road Rules

They've been tearing up the end of Fairville Blvd the last couple of weeks, so I've been avoiding that exit and getting on/off the highway at the start of Hwy 7. This morning I did this, and was coming around Dead Man's Curve, and I see two bikers in the lane. For those unfamiliar, this is a 4 lane highway, so on this side there are 2 lanes plus a merge lane. I was coming along in the merge lane and the bikers are coming up beside me. Bikers are supposed to follow the same rules of the road as cars. So I expected to have to yield in the merge lane for the bikers to go by.

So I'm driving along, and all of a sudden the first biker cuts in front of me in the merge lane to get to the shoulder/side of the road. I thought I was going to hit him and I had to slam on the brakes. WTF here a**hole? If this was a car, it wouldn't have cut me off in the merge lane.

Learn how to f***ing drive your bike before you take it on a highway.

Clarification: they were on bicycles.

shhhh don't swear ;-)

Its true though... While MOST bikers drive carefully some are

dude, you have no idea the potty mouth on this one.

bikers or motorcycles, liz?

yes, was trying to understand from your story if the bikes were motorized or not.

I'm guessing it was bicycles since they were trying to get to the shoulder of the road.

I agree that most bikers are fine, its those idiots that drive crazy. You know the ones who are too stupid to realize that you could flatten them.

Natural selection perhaps?

I just love morons who think they can fight with a vehicle and win. Sigh. There are times when I'm driving and people are being idiots that I wish they would put themselves in a position that I could squish them and get away with it. (: Hehehe! Not violent or anything...

Oh Peto you have no idea the sewer mouth capabilities of this one! She's where I learned to swear in a big way. It's all her fault. I was an innocent talker before she came along. lol

I clarified on the main entry. They were on bicycles.

Telling me not to do something only makes me do it more.

Yeah, funny how the rules of the road only seem to apply when it's convenient for the person, eh? If it was a car that cut them off then I'd bet they'd be mighty pissed off, and would be ranting about how inconsiderate the "car people" are of those on bikes. Will never understand this.....

Sorry, Mare, but feel this way sometimes about the students who think they own the road. They jay walk anywhere, do not look both ways but just straight across and expect cars to stop. tempted sometimes to have the foot "slip" from brake to gas...
ON my contribution to Hali I was there one day with my boss and a student walked by our car jaywalking, spit on on the hood, sneered and laughed at us slowly as he walked by. Knew with all the other cars we could not touch him. Ohhh....the temptation though. little shits!
YES, Mare. There are only a few bad apples ;-)

About bicycles or my cursing? :P

I've known people (mostly young men) who become complete morons the moment they get in or on any kind of vehicle, be it bicycle, car or atv. They don't seem to realize what can happen to them; death isn't neccesarily the worst thing.

The cursing really takes hld when she's around me. I don't even have to swear for her to start like a sailor. Many a year she couldn't talk to me for lent not because she gave me up, but because she gave up cursing, and it was impossible in my presence! ROFLMAO!!

Swearing and bike people... I see bike people every day, some on cell phones, some eating, some smoking, some doing two of the three...

Pedestrians are just as bad here in T.O.
